Tarn, France.

This is a view of the Cathédrale Sainte-Cécile with the Palais de la Berbie (“Palace of the Bishop”) in front of it. Both were built in Toulouse brick by an Inquisitor-Bishop of Albi in the thirteenth century to emphasize the recent victory of the French Catholic Crusade over the indigenous population. The whole palace-cathedral complex was built inside a defensible walled episcopal city, the locals being hostile, and still sympathetic to the Cathar cause. The episcopal city, situated in the center of the modern city was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2010.
